The Best Beaches in the Pollenca Area: Your Guide to Northern Mallorca's Coast

From hidden coves to family-friendly bays, discover the best beaches near Pollenca and Cala San Vicente in northern Mallorca during your fitness retreat.

·

Northern Mallorca is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean — and from our base in Cala San Vicente, the best of them are right on your doorstep. Here is our guide to the beaches we love most, from turquoise coves to long sandy stretches.

Cala San Vicente

Let us start with our home beach. Cala San Vicente is actually four connected coves — Cala Barques, Cala Clara, Cala Molins, and Cala Carbó. Each has its own character, but they all share impossibly clear water sheltered by dramatic limestone cliffs.

Cala Barques is the most secluded, reached by a short path through pine trees. It is rocky, wild, and utterly beautiful — perfect for snorkelling in water so transparent you can see every detail of the seabed.

Cala Molins is the main beach with sun loungers, a beach bar, and gently shelving sand — ideal for swimming and relaxing after a morning training session.

Formentor Beach (Platja de Formentor)

Often called one of the best beaches in all of Mallorca, Formentor Beach sits in a sheltered bay surrounded by towering pine trees. The water is calm, shallow, and an almost unreal shade of turquoise. The beach itself is a long crescent of fine white sand backed by a pine forest that provides natural shade.

Getting there from Port of Pollenca involves a scenic drive along the Cap de Formentor road — arguably one of the most beautiful coastal drives in Europe. We recommend arriving early, especially in summer, as this beach's reputation means it fills up quickly.

Cala Figuera (Formentor)

Not to be confused with the fishing village of the same name in the south, Cala Figuera near Formentor is a small, rocky cove accessible via a short walk from the road. It is one of those secret spots that most tourists drive straight past. The water is crystal clear and perfect for cliff jumping (if you are feeling brave) or simply floating in the sun.

Port of Pollenca Beach

The Port of Pollenca beach stretches for several kilometres along the bay, with a gentle shelving sandy bottom that makes it ideal for swimming. The promenade runs alongside it, so you are never far from a restaurant or cafe. It is more developed than the coves of Cala San Vicente but has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere.

Cala Boquer

This one is special. Cala Boquer is a wild, undeveloped beach accessible only by a 40-minute hike through a dramatic valley. The trail starts near Port of Pollenca and winds through a narrow gorge between towering cliffs before opening out onto a pebbly beach surrounded by untouched nature.

It is one of the best short hikes in northern Mallorca and the perfect combination of exercise and reward. We include this as a group activity at least once during most weeks — the hike is moderate, and the beach at the end feels like discovering somewhere truly hidden.

Playa de Alcudia

A little further afield but well worth a visit, Alcudia Beach is one of the longest beaches on the island — over 7 kilometres of fine golden sand. The water is shallow and warm, perfect for families and for long swims. The cycling route from Port of Pollenca to Alcudia is flat and scenic, making it a great active rest-day option.

Cala Sant Vicenc (the Secret Spots)

For those willing to explore, there are several tiny coves and swimming spots tucked into the cliffs around Cala San Vicente that are rarely visited. The rocky coastline is dotted with natural pools and platforms perfect for sunbathing. Ask our team when you visit — we know all the secret spots.
